Salt flats west of Bonneville, Utah on I-80. 7 August 2009, early afternoon looking southwest. Apparently the remnants of an ancient lake. The salt is 6' deep in some areas. Driving through, I kept on thinking of ultra-salty Jamón Serrano, which is often propped up against a wall, since it's on a hoof. My dissertation advisors told me about said ham they encountered the year they spend in in Madrid.
