Newmusicmonday #24:: Damien Robitaille

Just a quick entry on this week's newmucicmonday, as I'm woefully behind on work.  This week's selection is Franco-Ontarian Damien Robitaille-french, eng via Google trans {Wiki, MySp, Facebook}, who is on Audiogram and now based in Montréal.  He released an album in September of 2009, Homme Autonome {iTunes, Amazon.ca}.

His music is fun and his "Mot de Passe"/"Password" is a funky homage to the 70s.  Here's a live performance from this past October::

Here's the music video, which is on the Audiogram site with several others::

I also like the song and video for "Je Tombe"/"I Fall", which is from his début album, L'homme qui me ressemble::

Here's a list of upcoming shows, including two shows at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver::
  • February, 13 2010 09:30 PM - Place de la Francophonie, Vancouver, Colombie-Britannique
  • February, 24 2010 08:00 PM - BC Place, Vancouver, Colombie-Britannique

I just realized that Damien was on a RueFronetnac Top 10 music list. http://www.ruefrontenac.com/spectacles/musique/15605-top-10-franco. Interesting stuff & the Audiogram site has some great artists on it.
