newmusicmonday #33 :: Zeus

Image:: Zeus in Duncan, BC, from MySpace Photos

This week's Newmusicmonday band is the Toronto band Zeus {CBCr3, Wikipedia}. Zeus is another Arts and Crafts band and have been backing stablemate and BSS scion Jason Collett on tour of late. Recently, Now Magazine had good things to say about the band and after listening to tracks on MySpace and CBCr3, the classic rock-inspired music has an indie sensibility that makes their sound and arrangements fresh and not derivative.

Here's the video for "Marching Through Your Head", which serves up a little surrealism and the sound reminds many of the Beatles. The music doesn't start until ::58, so fast forward if you're the impatient sort::

Here's "How Does It Feel" which was featured in a Nissan commercial last year::

This is a link to the band's cover of the Genesis song, "That's All" that rocks. The sound is fuzzy, but I included it here since like this version much more than the original::

Here's one of my favourite tracks, "Fever of the Time"
They will be on tour with an upcoming date here in Toronto at Lee's Palace on 10 March and will be in Austin, TX for SxSW, before they head to San Francisco and all across Canada.
