What I like about The Headlights is that they're a pop band with a dark side. Last year's 'Wildlife' featured both "Secrets"::

and the dirgelike "Love Song for Buddy" with pop overtones {click for a YouTube player in new window}::

"Get Going"

and "Cherry Tulips"

show off their pop sensibilities and there's something organic to the arrangements. It doesn't seem forced or overthought/wrought. The band is on Polyvinyl with stablemates of the ilk of of Montreal, Architecture in Helsinki, and Japandroids. While the band isn't exactly unknown, I have a feeling their brand of dreamy shoegazy pop will break out big and catch the ear/eye of a director or advertising creative.
