Keep on Creepin' On,
album art
The first thing I thought of when I heard Timber Timbre was Jon Brion's soundtrack stuff, full of quirky soundscapes that are tied together with strings and horns. Their work is clearly cinematic. Their latest, Keep on Creepin' On [sample streams], released earlier in the year has elements of doo-wop, but their dark songs about relationships slink along in noirish glory, seemingly nourished by cigarettes and scotch. The title track {below} indeed does creep along, as does the entire album, with engaging and interesting arrangements, accompanied by sinewy and twisted lyrics. The mixing on "Black Water" showcases this amalgam of sound that's seamless sounding and organic.

The band mixes things up a bit with "Woman", a track that slips some 60s psychedelia into the mix::

NeedleDrop has an in-depth review of "Keep on Creepin' On" you might find interesting, going into details about the music, lyrics, and various references. Other Timber Timbre videos can be seen here.
